Homeschoolers Introductory Art Class This Tuesday!

An introductory art class with Elizabeth Howe will be held this Tuesday (October 25) 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Negaunee.   This is an excellent opportunity for homeschoolers! The class will be 1 1/2 hours long for ages 5 and up.  There is no charge, but we are encouraging each family to make a small donation, as they are able, to help cover costs, gas money, and time for Elizabeth.  If you are able to come please let me know how many children will be attending by Monday morning so we can give numbers to Elizabeth.

Art Classes with Elizabeth Howe

Homeschoolers, I need your input!  Who would be interested in a Basics of Art class for home schoolers?  Elizabeth Howe is willing to work with us in doing either a 6 week course,  a one-day introductory class, or both, depending on the interest.  Elizabeth is a home schooling mom and has been involved in art for 20 years.

For Elizabeth's scheduling availability, the 6 week course would probably be set up sometime in February of next year.  Each class would be 1 1/2 hours long, and would be $7-$10 per child per class.  The classes are limited to a size of 12, and are for ages 5 and up.

We also have the potential of having a 1 1/2 hour introductory class this Tuesday (October 25) at 2 pm, if anyone is interested. This class would not be limited to size, and there is no charge, but you can give a donation to help her with costs of copies, and for her time.  This class if often enough to give the kids an excellent start to art!

Please let me know if you are interested. If the 2pm class doesn't work out on Tuesday, Elizabeth would be willing to drop by our moms-only meeting for a brief time Tuesday evening to brainstorm with moms and answer any questions.  You can let me know what you'd like to do by dropping an email to marquettechums@yahoo.com.

November Field Trip to the Mining Journal

Our November Field trip is scheduled for the Mining Journal. We'll be touring while the printing presses are running. For this reason, they have asked to limit it to children 5 years old and up, accompanied by their parent(s). The machines will be pretty noisy, and children must not touch them as they are very dangerous.  The group size will be limited to 30, but I have reserved two days so we can do two groups of 30, if need be.  This will be a bit tricky to organize, so I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.  If we only get 30 people, we can all go through on Thursday, November 17th at 10 am.  If we get more, another group can go through on November 18th at 10 am.
Location: The Mining Journal, 249 W WashingtonMarquette

Please RSVP by November 7.  When you RSVP, please indicate which day would work best for you, keeping in mind that it may be the 17th depending on the number. I will send out an email letting you know for sure once everyone has responded.

When you RSVP, please let me know the number of people and ages of the children.

If you have signed up, but cannot attend (even at the last minute) PLEASE LET ME KNOW!  There are many people who often want to come, but can't because the groups are full.  Your consideration for others in this would be greatly appreciated.  I will send out a reminder email a few days beforehand.  Emails can be sent to marquetttechums@yahoo.com.
